3 areas in which the Jaguars must improve in 2023

The 2022 Jacksonville Jaguar season has definitely been an improvement over the debacle that was the 2021 season. The 3–7 Jaguars have already tied their 2021 season-long win total and still have 7 games left to play.

Trevor Lawrence, who often looked lost in 2021, seems to be growing as a passer under first-year HC Doug Pederson. The offense as a whole has been much more productive in Lawrence’s sophomore season.

After spending big in free agency prior to the start of the 2022 season, and hiring a Super Bowl-winning coach, expectations were understandably higher in Jacksonville. That has not translated to a vast difference in the win column, but the improvement nonetheless is noticeable.

What will it take for the Jaguars to finally start collecting wins? There are 3 key areas that the team must address.

Pass Defense

The Jaguars’ pass defense is allowing just shy of 250 passing yards per game, ranked 24th out of 32 teams. They are also allowing opponents to convert almost half of their third downs.

Finding a starting safety and outside corner are crucial for the team in 2023. Andre Cisco has improved in his 2nd year, but Rayshawn Jenkins has not lived up to his contract and could be a cap-casualty after the season.
