I passed 1,000 followers on Medium!

Almost exactly 1 year after posting my first story, I have reached 1,000 followers on Medium.

In that year, I posted a total of 43 stories, meaning I kept a pace of about 3 per month. This is NOT a lot of writing- I easily could’ve doubled my output.

I also follow 900 people, but I don’t just follow anyone. I follow anyone who “claps” my stories or leaves comments. I also follow anyone who’s writing I greatly enjoy. I believe this is the formula for success on Medium- be nice to people, interact with others, and find your niche.

While there are definitely some things I wish Medium did differently, overall my experience has been positive. If I pick up my writing pace, there’s no reason to think I can’t get to 2,000 followers by this time next year.

I believe that I am a great test case for making it work on Medium. If you are active and interact, you will get a high follower count. Keep writing and interacting! Hopefully we will cross 2,000 soon!
