The Volunteer Club inks Tennessee athletes to NIL deals: ‘Best destination in the country’
The Volunteer Club continues to make a name for itself in the NIL sphere.
The Tennessee-focused collective, run by Spyre Sports Group, has reached deals with over 200 Tennessee student-athletes from 11 different sports. On Friday, the collective announced the signing of seven additional football players.
The seven players announced are:
- Offensive lineman Addison Nichols
- Safety Doneiko Slaughter
- Tight end Jacob Warren
- Cornerback Christian Charles
- Cornerback Gabriel Jeudy
- Tight end McCallan Castles
- Safety John Slaughter
The collective has emphasized player retention this offseason. This latest batch of NIL deals features a few veterans as well as newcomers. Notably, The Volunteer Club was instrumental in keeping RB Jaylen Wright in Knoxville for one more season after securing a deal in January.
A prominent NIL collective has also proven helpful in the transfer portal. Tight end McCallan Castles just transferred to Tennessee from UC Davis and now has secured a NIL deal.
Spyre Sports Group co-founder James Clawson is working hard to establish Knoxville as a hub for NIL activity. Just shy of two years into the NIL era, Spyre Sports Group controls one of the nation’s most active and prolific collectives.
“We are going to keep showcasing Tennessee as the best NIL destination in the country,” explained Clawson. “We are excited to work with these seven new athletes and bring the total to 34 new football athletes since the first of the year.”
The Volunteer Club currently has 2,319 members signed up. Memberships start at $5 per month and go up to $500. The collective is aiming to reach 5,000 members before the NCAA Tournament tips off next month.
